Katherine Endres
DNP, FNP-BC, RNC-OB, C-EFM
Assistant Professor
Vice Chair for Administration
Health Promotion & Development
Profile
Dr. Endres, a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, earned her DNP at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Her nursing background spanned labor and delivery, high-risk pregnancy, and outpatient OB/GYN care. Dr. Endres’s scholarly work focuses on breaking down traditional siloes in health care and improving access to care. She is specifically interested in efforts to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality by improving access to women’s reproductive health services in the primary care setting.
An advocate for the nursing profession and reproductive justice, Dr. Endres first graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.A. in Political Science and moved to Washington, DC, to work on Capitol Hill. Her advocacy work moved to the bedside when she obtained her BSN at George Mason. Today, she is an active member of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and is the co-chair of the Southwest Chapter of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses.
As Vice-Chair for Administration, Dr. Endres is facilitating the transition to competence-based learning at the School of Nursing. She serves on the Professional Development Committee and the Evaluation and Steering Committee. She states her goal is to “continue the tradition of graduating excellent nurses at Pitt who become leaders in the profession.”
