Professional Development & Continuing Education

Facilitating the lifelong learning, self-discovery, and professional advancement of nurses is instrumental to furthering the quality of healthcare delivery and outcomes. The Department of Professional Development & Continuing Education provides evidence-based nursing continuing professional development programs and resources in various formats.  These offerings, crafted by the University of Pittsburgh Nursing faculty and renowned experts, aim to enrich the professional and personal development of registered nurses.

Goals

  • Provoke a spirit of inquiry to enhance professional and personal educational enrichment;
  • Champion life-long learning by sharing relevant research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement findings to close practice gaps;
  • Enhance the professional practice of scholarship for nursing specialists, leaders, preceptors, mentors, and alumni;
  • Foster knowledge about the importance of interprofessional and interdisciplinary partnerships.

Accreditation

The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
