This course explores the evolution, fundamental assumptions and dominant themes underpinning the philosophies of science. The focus will be on the intersections between various approaches to metatheoretical perspective, theoretical thinking, scientific inquiry, and knowledge development. The philosophical debate underlying science and knowledge development will be investigated. The current state of nursing science, ways of knowing, knowledge generation models, criteria for causation, and argumentation will be explored.
