Joe is a nurse practitioner in the emergency department at UPMC Mercy.
Teaching
As a part-time instructor, Joe teaches students both in the nurse practitioner program and the undergraduate nursing program. Joe is responsible for teaching NUR 1990, Senior Seminar. This course is to support the senior BSN student successful progression to entry-level professional nursing practice. Classroom activities and self-directed learning assists students to attain the benchmarks associated with professional licensure and provide a foundation for the continuous self-evaluation and life-long learning required to support professional nursing practice. In addition, he assists in the physical diagnosis class for nurse practitioner students and serves as the faculty preceptor for students` clinical experiences as nurse practitioner trainees.
