An Update Regarding COVID-19 and the School of Nursing from Dean Jacqueline Dunbar-Jacob

COVID-19 presents an unprecedented situation for the School of Nursing and for the University. I know this is an especially challenging time for students, faculty and staff, as students work to complete their degree requirements. I appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work through the steps that are necessary to protect our community.

The School has established the following guidelines for students, faculty and staff.

  • Undergraduate Students: Effective immediately, there are no hands-on clinical rotations. Educational activities will move to a distance learning format once classes resume on March 23.
  • Graduate Students: Didactic learning experiences will move to a distance learning format once classes resume on March 23. Students who have professional clinical experiences will cease those experiences once a case is reported in a clinical setting in the Pittsburgh area. Students who are at locations outside the Pittsburgh area will cease clinical experiences when a case of COVID-19 is reported in their respective clinical settings.
  • Faculty and Staff: Business operations proceed as usual for the School. An update meeting will be held in small group settings at the School at 10 a.m. Monday, March 16.
