Pitt Nursing congratulates Lorraine Novosel, PhD, Assistant Professor, who was recently honored with the 2014 Judith Braun Award for Research Excellence during the National Gerontological Nursing Association Convention. The Judith V. Braun Award is presented annually to one who is advancing the practice of gerontological nursing through their research. Dr. Novosel received the award for her study on “Primary Care Nurse Practitioners Preparedness as a de facto Mental Health Provider for the Depressed Older Adult.” This is part of her larger body of research which looks at barriers to depression care in primary care situations, as well as the factors of depression-cardiovascular disease comorbidity.
