“Your Neighborhood Matters: A Machine-Learning Approach to the Geospatial and Social Determinants of Health in 9-1-1 Activated Chest Pain” was selected by the publication’s three executive editors according to impact, innovation, and methodological quality criteria.
The study focuses on the relationship between residential neighborhoods, the prediction of acute coronary syndrome (ACS) risk, and healthcare disparities related to ACS. Findings from the study suggest that residential neighborhoods can be considered an upstream factor contributing to healthcare disparities in ACS risk prediction, independent of other well-known factors such as demographic, social, and economic determinants of health.
