Sleep and Circadian Rhythms: Effect on Symptoms and Functional Outcomes Across the Lifespan

Sleep is a basic human need that occupies one-third of our lives. Sleep was previously thought of as a passive event that was unrelated to health outcomes. However, current evidence suggests that adequate duration and quality of sleep is essential for the promotion of health and well-being.

The goal of this hub is to provide a forum for:

  • Students interested in learning more about sleep and health
  • Nurse scientists involved in sleep research to advance their programs of research through collaboration

Our core group includes faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and doctoral students who examine the effect of impaired sleep and/or circadian rhythms across a wide variety of populations and topics including children and adults with acute and chronic health conditions, shift workers, caregivers, genetics, and health promotion to reduce cardiovascular risk. We are available to act as a resource for students and faculty interested in adding sleep and/or circadian rhythms to their research.
