Profile

Dr. Miller graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing in 1984 and began her career as a cardiology staff nurse at UPMC. She has also worked at UPMC as a clinical instructor and as a nurse coordinator for two cardiologists. She began the DNP program at Pitt as a clinical nurse specialist in 2007 and graduated in 2012. While she was a graduate student, she worked as a Teaching Assistant and has been teaching full time for Pitt since 2012. Dr. Miller is the BSN Program Director and has certification as a clinical nurse specialist, as a progressive care certified nurse, and as a certified healthcare simulation educator.

Clinical Emphasis

Dr. Miller's clinical emphasis is related to teaching on cardiology units and medicine units, as well as clinical on surgical oncology units.

Scholarly Emphasis

Dr. Miller's scholarly focus is in cardiology and medicine.

Teaching

Dr. Miller currently teaches NUR 1120 and NUR 1020, NUR 1020c and NUR 1311. She guest lectures in NUR 0082. She has previously taught clinical in all levels of the undergraduate programs and the ABSN program along with skills lab instruction.

Service

Dr. Miller is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Mentorship program and a facilitator for the UPMC residency program.
