Pitt Nursing’s DNP Program Lands in Top 10

In new rankings released today, U.S. News & World Report revealed that the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is among the top nursing graduate schools in the nation.

Pitt Nursing’s Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) program moved up three spots from last year and is now tied for No. 9 nationwide, according to the 2026 list of Best Nursing Schools: Doctor of Nursing Practice.

“This ranking demonstrates our commitment to preparing the next generation of nursing leaders for productive and fulfilling careers in research, health care administration and other industries where highly qualified nurses are needed,” said Pitt Nursing Dean Christine E. Kasper. “We are extremely honored to learn that our peers regard our DNP program as highly as we do.”

In addition to the overall DNP program rankings, Pitt Nursing’s Nurse Anesthesia concentration is tied for No. 5. Kerry Quisenberry, director of the Nurse Anesthesia program, said they are proud to be recognized as a top doctoral program.

“Consistent with our longstanding history, the University of Pittsburgh Nurse Anesthesia program has remained in the top 10 since rankings were first introduced in 1998,” Quisenberry said. “This recognition reflects the strength of our faculty, the caliber of our students and our continued commitment to excellence in nurse anesthesia education.”

This news follows earlier rankings that placed Pitt Nursing’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program in the top 10. The BSN program currently ties for No. 8 in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report rankings released in September 2025.
