TV SPOTLIGHT: New happiness course featured on KDKA-TV

There’s much to be happy about at the School of Nursing! Check out Professor Grant Martsolf, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, who made a guest appearance on KDKA, talking about the new Pitt Nursing course he helped develop: Happiness & Human Flourishing (NUR 1014).

This brand-new course explores the “happiness crisis” in the modern west, which according to the course description, is experiencing “historic levels of depression, anxiety and lack of meaning.” The ultimate goal of the three-credit interdisciplinary class is to help students “reflect on their own lives and how they might construct flourishing lives in college and beyond.”

Martsolf and two good friends who are English and Engineering professors at the University of Pittsburgh developed the course, which debuted in Spring 2023.
