Celebrating National Nurses Day

The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing recognizes and celebrates nurses the world over today, May 12, National Nurses Day.

Coinciding with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, National Nurses Day is an opportunity to thank and honor the nurses who make a difference in the lives of so many.

Here at Pitt Nursing, we are honored to be a part of the foundation that will support future nurses at home and abroad. Our alumni, students, faculty and staff strive each day to contribute to a healthier, more caring world. We take pride in uniting with our peers in education and health care to commemorate National Nurses Day.

The American Nurses Association (ANA) has set the theme for 2025 as "The Power of Nurses to Transform Health." This theme reminds us of how nurses make lasting impacts in shaping health care, driving innovation and advocating for patient-centered care.

As we celebrate nurses throughout the month of May, let us remember and appreciate the achievements and contributions of nurses in all their diverse roles throughout education and health care. Whether you have decades of research under your belt or have just recently graduated and started your first job, know that your efforts are changing the world for the better.

Thank you!
