2 nursing students named Gilman Scholars

Two Pitt Nursing students have received competitive scholarships through the U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program.

Makayla Dixon, a first-year student, and Ariella Tucci, a third-year student, both received scholarships that will allow them to study abroad. Dixon plans on studying in Argentina while Tucci plans to study in Spain.

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman scholarship program supports undergraduates receiving Pell Grants, awarding them up to $5,000 to intern or study in another country. The awardees go through a rigorous selection process and compete with students across the country.

Nine students from the University of Pittsburgh were awarded these prestigious scholarships.
