Facilitating the lifelong learning, self-discovery, and professional advancement of nurses is instrumental to furthering the quality of healthcare delivery and outcomes. The Office of Professional Development & Continuing Education provides evidence-based nursing continuing professional development programs and resources in various formats. These offerings, crafted by the University of Pittsburgh Nursing faculty and renowned experts, aim to enrich your professional and personal development.
In the summer of 1941, University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing dean, Margaret Perkins Kuehn, PhD, RN, organized a pivotal educational workshop addressing the needs of practicing nurses. This activity focused on their ongoing scholastic needs and addressed the comparative analysis of nursing procedures and ward management. It was a landmark continuing education event held at the School of Nursing and was the catalyst for launching non-degree programs at the School of Nursing. Today, the mission remains the same to facilitate lifelong learning programming for the professional nurse.
