Nursing Administration Minor

The Minor in Nursing Administration is available to enrolled University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing graduate students pursuing education in advanced clinical specialty roles who want the opportunity to also obtain knowledge and experience pertinent to management and leadership. Students should consult with their academic advisor. The minor will prepare nurses to assume positions as advanced practice nurses with some management and/or leadership responsibility.

The curriculum focuses on management in complex social and operational systems for healthcare delivery. Attention is given to applying role-related knowledge and skills in diverse settings and populations, including acute care, long term care, psychiatric settings, and community settings. The culminating practicum is a uniquely designed mentored clinical experience that provides students with an opportunity to experience a leadership role.
