UPMC Clinical Modules
Students are required to complete UPMC Modules each fall. All students must have all modules completed, checked by an instructor, and uploaded to Exxat before clinical activities begin.
Clinical activities begin the very first day of each term. You will not be permitted to attend clinical if the modules are not completed and uploaded to Exxat. Each module must be done each fall semester regardless of when the previous year’s modules were completed.
For the School of Nursing to confirm you have completed the modules, students must follow the instructions below:

Step 1 – Screenshot the Completion Tracking form.
After you complete a test associated with the module, you will have an opportunity to click to access the completion tracking form. The tracking form will have the name of module you completed. You should place your name on the completion tracking form and take a screenshot of the tracking form with your name visible on the form.

Step 2 – Send the screenshots of the Completion Tracking forms to the clinical faculty member serving as your clinical instructor.
Additionally, with the screenshots you must send to the clinical faculty, one UPMC Documentation of Clinical Competencies for Faculty and Nursing Students form. Check off each module you have completed on clinical competencies form. Sign and date the form.
Your instructor will check the screenshots that show the title of the module against the modules listed on the UPMC Documentation of Clinical Competencies for Faculty and Student form. If all the screenshots match the modules checked on the UPMC Documentation of Clinical Competencies for Faculty and Student form, your instructor will sign and date the clinical competencies form and return the form to you.

Step 3 – Upload the signed and dated UPMC Documentation of Clinical Competencies form into Exxat if you are in the class of 2025 and beyond.
If you are graduating in December 2025, please submit the UPMC Documentation of Clinical Competencies form directly to Erin Hrizo at elh175@pitt.edu.
The modules must be completed, checked by an instructor, and uploaded to Exxat. The UPMC Documentation of Clinical Competencies form will be reviewed by Erin Hrizo. Clinical experiences begin the first day of each term. You will not be permitted to attend clinical if the modules are not completed and uploaded to Exxat, and the UPMC Documentation of Clinical Competency form has not been reviewed by Erin Hrizo.

Instructions for the Pitt Bloodborne Pathogen Module
A Bloodborne pathogen module is required by the University. Please follow these instructions to access the training:

Log-in to the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI)

Use your Pitt ID and password. Create an account if needed.

Once logged in, go to the Institutional Courses section

Click on View Courses
-
Then go to Learner Tools for University of Pittsburgh (upper right area)

Click on Add A Course.

Answer the first question (the answer is Yes) and hit Next

Scroll down to the “Other Courses Available” section, near the very bottom

Check the box next to "Bloodborne Pathogens for Lab Workers"

Click Next
Now the course will display in the "Active Courses – Courses Ready to Begin"
Other courses will be in the Active Course Section but you do not have to do them, just the BBP for lab workers.
Once the tests are successfully completed:

Go to "View Post Course Completion" options

Select "Access Certificate"
