Determination of Class Designation for Prelicensure Undergraduate Students

POLICY:

First Year Students

All traditional prelicensure students, admitted and registered, are First Year Students until they have successfully completed the School of Nursing requirements for the following courses and have achieved the University-required 24 credits:

  • CHEM 0910 (UPJ/UPG: CHEM 0190/0192) CHEMICAL PRINCIPLES FOR THE HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONS

  • NUR 0013/0003(UPJ:BIOSC 0970/0971 UPG:BIOL 0970/0971) HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY 2/ HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY LABORATORY 2

Second Year Students

Following the completion of the prior year requirements, all traditional prelicensure registered students in the School of Nursing are Second Year Students until they have successfully completed the requirements for the following courses:

  • NUR 0080/0090 FOUNDATIONS OF NURSING PRACTICE 1/FOUNDATIONS OF NURSING PRACTICE 1 CLINICAL

  • NUR 1680 INTRODUCTION TO GENETICS AND MOLECULAR THERAPEUTICS

All Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN students who are admitted, registered, and who have completed pre-requisite classes are Second Year Students until they have completed the requirements of the following courses:

Fourth Year Students

Following the completion of the prior requirements, all traditional and Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN prelicensure registered students in the School of Nursing are Fourth Year Students until they have completed all requirements for the degree sought.
