Mitali Ray

Profile
Dr. Ray has a multidisciplinary background in biomedical sciences, organ systems and translational medicine, and nursing. Her work is deeply embedded with ecosocial theory, which emphasizes the interplay between biological processes and social environments. Her research specifically focuses on applying epigenomic approaches to understand the intersection of chronic stress exposures, racial disparities, and cardiovascular disease, relative to pregnancy. Dr. Ray is a member of the nuMoM2b Heart Health Study group, which applies a lifecourse approach to understanding cardiovascular sequelae following development of adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Dr. Ray’s research portfolio includes securing funding from prestigious sources, including the National Institutes of Health and the American Heart Association. She is passionate about mentoring and supporting the next generation of nurse scientists. Dr. Ray is strongly committed to developing a diverse research workspace and creating inclusive spaces for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent communities in science. In her free time, she enjoys staying active, immersing herself in art and cultural activities, and all things Philly sports.
