Judith A. Callan, PhD, RN
Biography
Dr. Callan’s areas of research interest are technology applications to reduce barriers to adherence, mood disorders, and cognitive behavioral therapy homework. Her doctoral dissertation research involved the development and testing of a questionnaire to measure barriers to the completion of cognitive behavioral therapy homework in depressed outpatients. She then went on to do a T32 Postdoctoral Fellowship focusing on technology interventions.
Dr. Callan is currently an NIH K12 Clinical Research Scholar through the Clinical Translational Science Institute. She is working on developing a SmartPhone Application to improve adherence to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Homework.
Teaching
Dr. Callan has taught NUR 1800/2800 Coordinating Clinical Trials and NURNP 2400 Neurobiology of Psychiatric Disorders.
Clinical Emphasis
Dr. Callan has been a psychiatric nurse since 1980 and a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist since 1984. Her clinical expertise is in Mood Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Cocaine Addiction. She has been trained as a Cognitive Therapist and Pharmacotherapist.
