NCLEX-RN Preparatory Examinations – Prelicensure Baccalaureate Students
POLICY:
All students graduating from the BSN program are required to the take the Comprehensive Examination during their final senior term. All students will be required to complete remediation on the Comprehensive Examination.
PROCEDURE:
The Comprehensive Examination is a proctored exam that test the students’ ability to critically analyze, organize and synthesize material learned over the total period of matriculation for the degree.
The examinations are composed of questions developed to assess the student’s mastery of knowledge in the nursing discipline. The Comprehensive Examination is administered under the direction of the BSN Council in collaboration with Center for Student Success, the Office of the Dean, and the Health Sciences Information Technology staff at the School of Nursing.
The Comprehensive Examination is a component of the course requirements for NUR 1990 Senior Seminar. Completion of the Comprehensive Examination and remediation are required for successfully passing NUR 1990. The process includes the following:
- Complete the Practice Pharmacology Exam and required remediation
- Complete proctored Pharmacology Exams
- Complete the Practice Comprehensive Exam and remediation on the practice Comprehensive Exam
- Complete the Proctored Comprehensive Exam and complete required remediation
- Attend all sessions of the NCLEX-RN Review Course
The results of the Comprehensive Examination are sent to the Office of the Dean and Center for Student Success in the School of Nursing for review and placement in the students' file.
