The University of Pittsburgh offers specialized programs focused on the care and management of critically ill and recovering premature and full-term infants. Our curriculum combines coursework, advanced simulations, and hands-on clinical experiences tailored to prepare you for the unique challenges of neonatal care. Pitt offers multiple programs, including certificate, MSN, and DNP tracks.
- Full-time NNPs have a median total annual income of $140,000— which includes base salary, productivity bonuses, incentive payments, and more.
- According to data collected by the National Association of Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NANNP), most NNP jobs are in hospitals or hospital systems. Almost 60% of NNP work primarily in a level III NICU and approximately 33% work in level IV units, which treat the most serious cases.
- In the 2022 US News Best Jobs Report, NPs ranked #1 in healthcare jobs and #2 in overall jobs. As of 2022, there are 234,690 NPs in the workforce, and the BLS has predicted a 52.2 percent employment growth for NPs from 2020-2030.
