Biography

Dr. Haines has been worked at the University of Pittsburgh for 18 years and has taught multiple courses in the classroom and the skills laboratory. She has also done clinical instruction with traditional sophomores, ABSNs and senior students.

Scholarly Emphasis

Dr. Haines’s DNP capstone project developed a video to reduce stress and anxiety in caregivers of lung transplant patients. Her dissertation for her PhD was a qualitative grounded theory analysis that assessed why clinical instructors fail to fail undergraduate students who are clearly unsafe in the clinical setting. She is interested in research and scholarship related to nursing education and clinical topics.

Service

Dr. Haines is a member of PSNA, Sigma Theta Tau, Delta Kappa Gamma, the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), the American Thoracic Society (ATS), and currently serves as the post-baccalaureate representative for Pitt Nursing Alumni.

Clinical Emphasis

Dr. Haines’s clinical focus is in Medical-Surgical and Critical Care Stepdown.
