Palliative Research Center names Dr. Teresa Thomas to new role

Pitt Nursing Associate professor Teresa Hagan Thomas, PhD, RN, has assumed a new role at the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Thomas was named Associate Director of Mentorship and Nursing Research for the Palliative Research Center (PaRC), at the University of Pittsburgh. In this new role, Dr. Thomas will cultivate a culture of mentorship while amplifying the presence and influence of nursing research at PaRC.

Dr. Thomas joined the Palliative Research Center in October 2020. In addition to her role at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing, Dr. Thomas is the Director of Advocacy and Community Engagement for the Gynecological Oncology Family Caregiver Advocacy, Research, and Education (CARE) Center, and an Assistant Professor of Biobehavioral Oncology Program at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center. Her research focuses on cancer survivorship, palliative care, symptom management, mHealth interventions, and self-advocacy and she currently leads an NCI funded study “Efficacy of a self-advocacy serious game intervention for women with advanced cancer.”
