Research

My research interests include the neuropsychological sequellae of cancer and cancer treatment and the physiological mechanisms underlying these problems. More specifically, my research has focused on the description of changes in cognitive function and mood that occur in patients with cancer, particularly as a consequence of cancer treatment. Additionally, I am conducting studies to test behavioral and pharmacological interventions to ameliorate cognitive impairment and prevent depression associated with cancer treatment.

Teaching

I am currently teaching the doctoral course, NUR 3016 Theoretical Foundations of Research. I also teach the course, NUR 2007 Research for Evidence Based Practice II for Doctor of Nursing Practice and Masters Students.

Service

My service focuses on oncology. I am currently the Coordinator of the Oncology Nursing Society Advanced Nursing Research Special Interest Group. I have been a member of the Scientific Subgroup of the Research Advisory Panel for the Oncology Nursing Society and have chaired Project Teams for both Biotherapy and Nausea and Vomiting Research Initiatives. I was also selected to present the State of the Science Lecture at the 7th National Conference on Cancer Nursing Research of the American Cancer Society and the Oncology Nursing Society.
