Administrative
As Associate Dean for Clinical Education, my administrative responsibilities include academic affairs related to curricular enhancement and innovative program development for the Baccalaureate, Master’s and Doctorate of Nursing Practice programs. I am also administratively responsible for the Educational Technology and Innovation and the Skills Laboratory.Research
My research interests include gerontology, women`s health and urinary incontinence. My research has focused on interventions for urinary incontinence in women, men with prostate cancer and homebound elders. Studies include clinical trials examining the efficacy of acupuncture for women with urinary incontinence and biofeedback-assisted pelvic floor muscle training for urinary incontinence in older men and women including homebound elders. I have also examined the cost-effectiveness of providing behavioral therapies for urinary incontinence in older adults.Teaching
I am currently teaching NUR 1900 Global Health Care. I have also taught a geriatric management course and a women’s health management course for nurse practitioner students, research to both undergraduate and graduate students, and a structure of knowledge course for doctoral students.Service
My services focused on urinary incontinence. I am currently a Board Member of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Society’s Center for Clinical Investigation. I am the Continence Section Editor for the Journal of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing.I have a 20% joint appointment as a visiting professor at the Institute of Nursing Science at the University of Basel.
