Research

I am chair of the Department of Health Promotion and Development, and my scholarly interests include gerontology, women`s health and urinary incontinence. My research has focused on interventions for urinary incontinence in older women, men with prostate cancer and homebound elders. I am also studying the cost-effectiveness of providing behavioral therapies, including acupuncture, for urinary incontinence in this population.

Teaching

I serve as an advisor for both masters and doctoral students. I teach a geriatric management course for nurse practitioner students and structure of knowledge course for doctoral students. I have also taught a women`s health management course for nurse practitioner students.

Service

I am Chair of the Health Promotion and Development Department. I am the Co-Director of the continence clinic at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center where I maintain an active clinical practice treating urinary incontinence.
