My primary interest lies in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology/BMT. The majority of my 40 years of clinical experience has been at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. I have developed expertise in the care of the pediatric patient with specific interest in hematology/oncology/BMT patients and their families. I was an integral part of the development of the Hematology/Oncology/BMT Unit at CHP. I have functioned in various managerial roles as well as clinical roles within the administration of CHP.
I have been on faculty of University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing since 1989. I have served as Primary Teacher and Clinical Instructor for the undergraduate junior course Nursing Care of Children and Families over the years. I have also participated as clinical faculty in the Transitions into Nursing Course for senior students. I have experience and training as director/facilitator for the High Fidelity Human Simulation technology currently being used in the undergraduate program.
I co-chair the Admission, Progression and Graduation Committee for the School of Nursing. I am an active member of the BSN Council, serving on various task forces with special interest in curriculum development and NCLEX testing. I have served on the Health/Screening Committee for the various schools in my home school district over the past 20 years. I currently serve on the Faculty Advisory Board and Evidence-Base Practice Council at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.
