Pitt Named a Best School for Men in Nursing for Fifth Year

Published September 18, 2026

For the fifth consecutive year, the American Association for Men in Nursing (AAMN) has named the University of Pittsburgh one of the Best Schools for Men in Nursing.

Pitt Nursing is one of 15 schools to top this year’s list. The AAMN takes a variety of factors and data into consideration for its Best Schools list, including a school’s efforts to recruit, retain and support male nursing students.

In addition to the schoolwide honor, third-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing student Nevil Gandhi is the 2026 recipient of the AAMN’s Outstanding Student Award—the second year in a row that a Pitt Nursing student has earned this accolade. Quinn Eckert (BSN '26), who has since graduated, received the award in 2025.

As the vice president of Pitt Nursing's Men in Nursing Club, Gandhi said he looks forward to expanding the club and mentorship opportunities for younger students by pairing them with upperclassmen.

"Winning this award means a lot to me because it recognizes the work, leadership and commitment I’ve put into nursing and supporting other students entering the profession,” Gandhi said. "Nursing is still a field where men are significantly underrepresented, and I’m dedicated to helping students see that there is a place for them and opportunities to succeed.”

Both Pitt Nursing and Gandhi will be formally recognized at an AAMN ceremony in Las Vegas in October 2026.
