White Coat Ceremony

The ceremony will start at 6:00 p.m.

Doors open for seating at 4:30 p.m.

The handicapped-accessible entrance will be open at 4:30 p.m. for guests needing extra time to access the auditorium.

The event will be held at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum. Information about the facility can be found at: Soldiers & Sailors.

Undergraduate students must wear their School of Nursing uniform.

Graduate students must wear business attire.

No. Your lab coat will be presented to you on stage during the ceremony.

Once you arrive at the facility, you will be directed to a registration area, where you will be checked in and given your lab coat.  (Once you enter the facility, turn right, the check-in and coat pick-up room is at the end of the hall.  

Yes, each student will have their name announced and called onto the stage. You will carry your white coat onto the stage and hand it to one of the faculty members, who will place it on you. Please have the buttons on your coat unbuttoned.

The ceremony will be around 1.5 hours.

No, there is not a reception.

There will be assigned seats for the students. Your name will be taped to your seat for the event. By 5:40 p.m., students should be in their assigned seats for the start of the program.

Guests may sit anywhere throughout the auditorium except for the blocked-off student section.

Guest can enter via the ramp and accessible entrance located on the University Place side of the building (west side, or left side if looking from 5th Avenue) via the street-level employee parking lot, with an intercom call box to request assistance.

Guests can only be dropped off and picked up in this area. Parking is not available in this lot.

Paid parking is available on the street or in the University of Pittsburgh-owned parking garage located under the lawn in front of Soldiers & Sailors.
