Distance Education
Nurse Practitioners often serve as advanced practice providers in hospitals, emergency rooms, clinics, outpatient centers, nursing homes, and home health care agencies in regions that are traditionally underserved. Now, Pitt Nursing is offering three of its BSN to DNP Nurse Practitioner concentrations in a distance education format for eligible students (see School of Nursing Policy 438).
Concentrations offered:
- Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-ACNP) – is prepared with the knowledge base and skill set to provide care to the adult and geriatric populations with acute, critical, and complex chronic health conditions.
- Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AG-PCNP) – is prepared as a generalist, principal provider of primary health care for patients from adolescence through adulthood.
- Family (Individual Across the Lifespan) Nurse Practitioner (FNP) – is a clinical leader, the FNP promotes and restores health to individuals across the lifespan.
You’ll attend class virtually from the comfort of your home, interacting with your professor and classmates who are on the Pittsburgh campus.
Coursework covers the role of nurse practitioners; diagnosis, management, and care of the specific patient population; utilization of evidence-based practice; management of complex health issues; finance, public policy, and leadership; and exploration and application of the various family health theories with respect to NP practice.
