Shareen A. Milligan
DNP, RN, CCRN, CHSE

Profile
Dr. Milligan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Development. She currently holds a Registered Nurse position at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. Dr. Milligan received her ASN in 1996 from the Community College of Allegheny County. She received her BSN and MSN (Nursing Education) in 2001 and 2009, respectively from Waynesburg University. In 2012, Dr. Milligan completed her DNP at Chatham University.
Clinical Emphasis
Dr. Milligan has over 25 years of clinical nursing experience, with a focus on congenital heart disease in both the pediatric and adult patient. She has a particular interest in obstetrical patients with congenital heart disease. Dr. Milligan has presented in the field of congenital heart disease, tying both her clinical expertise with her experience as a nurse educator. Her doctoral project focused on the utilization of a simulation-based education program to reduce errors in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, and she designed an eight-day simulation-based orientation program for nurses wishing to become part of the pediatric cardiac intensive care team. She holds both pediatric CCRN certification and CHSE certification.
