Distance Education
Distance Education Spring Schedule 2104
The Pitt SoN has had an established distance-learning program for over nine years. Since the program’s inception the school has transmitted RN-BSN course offerings to the University’s regional campus sites in Johnstown (77 miles away), and Bradford (189 miles). Beginning in 2009 these distance learning courses will also be transmitted to the Greensburg (34 miles) and Titusville (107 miles) campuses (see map in Section B.1). Between one and four courses are transmitted daily (Monday through Friday) as synchronously delivered course lectures. In addition, the SoN has been transmitting lectures synchronously and asynchronously to clinical sites throughout Pennsylvania and the United States for undergraduate and graduate programs. This accounts for an average of 150 classes per term. More recently, our technology capability has allowed us to convene web-based conferences and partnership activities internationally. Faculty can readily and easily deliver lectures, conduct meetings, and participate in Doctoral defense discussions conducted from international universities.
