Nursing Informatics Curriculum
The nursing informatics concentration may be completed on a full or part-time basis. The nursing informatics core serves as a basis for increasing the students’ knowledge of nursing theory and research, healthcare outcomes, and nursing informatics. The nursing informatics core includes course work in introduction to informatics, clinical information systems, database management, and consumer health informatics. The curriculum includes a cognate course in data analysis or systems analysis. The cognate course may be taken outside the School of Nursing. Practica are designed to enhance the students' active participation in a selected informatics role. Completion of this program fulfills the requirements for eligibility for the American Nurses Credentialing Center Nursing Informatics certification exam.
